Calling All Curly Tops to Curlfest!

Calling all curly tops from near and far to attend the biggest natural hair event in New York City... CURLFEST! The Curly Girl Collective held their third annual CurlFest event in Prospect Park on June 15 2016 and it was a success! There were amazing vendors, activities, and most importantly beautiful people with amazing hair! When I got there, I joined my friends and waited to be check-in. Once we were checked-in and received our gift bags, we reserved a spot in the shade created by the trees in the area. Just as a side note,  when attending this event, it is important that you come early (if you want a gift bag), bring a blanket, and a small cooler or insulated bag with drinks and snacks. Prepared attendees did this to avoid waiting on long food truck lines. After setting up camp, we went out in the world of curls to see what CurlFest had to offer!

I checked out the posted itinerary, admired the CurlFest booth display and grabbed a fan because the sun was not forgiving that day.

As I walked further into the event, I noticed a large group of woman prepared to get their yoga on. Ors treated the ladies to a nice yoga session in their relaxation zone.

Ouidad had a beautifully crafted swing as a great photo op! These lovely ladies were showing off their love for CurFest and their curly hair.

After taking your photo, Ouidad offered you the opportunity to send your friends the cutest natural hair post cards that I have ever seen. All you had to do is write their address, a brief message, and drop it off in the Ouidad mailbox to be sent out. I took one of each postcard to create a cute wall display for late.

Cantu had a really cute game zone where you had the opportunity to play Jenga with extra large piece. These ladies were showing off their skills and enjoying a great day in the sun!

My next stop was the Shea Moisture Braid Bar! They had a beautiful entrance way created with flowers that lead to the braid bar. I would of loved to get my hair braided at the bar, but the line was too long and it was just too hot to be basking in the afternoon sun. So I said hello to some friends that was working that booth and grabbed a few samples they were giving away.

My last stop was the Dove CurlFest Chat in the picnic pavilion.

I ended my day at Curlfest watching a special band presentation and dancing the rest of my day away!

Thank you for reading about my experience at CurlFest!

Calling All Curly Babes and Gents to CurlFest 2015!

If you are someone who is proud to have natural hair, then CurlFest was a event you wouldn't of wanted to miss! The Curly Girl Collective threw the ultimate summer celebration for the natural hair community this past Saturday, and I had the pleasure of being a part of it all.

I volunteered to be a part of this festival because I strongly believe that men, women, and children of all ages should love their hair and the natural beauty of it. This ultimate picnic party located in Brooklyn's Prospect Park brought together experts and the best hair care products companies for all naturalistas!

Shea Moisture offered products for all hair types. To make CurlFest attendees experience that much more exciting, they had a onsite braid bar for them to get their "Hair did!"

The Curls ladies were offering more than yummy candy treat at their tent. The offered a variety of hare care products to enhance any person's curly curls!

Another great feature at CurlFest that my sister and I loved, was the Kinky Curly's picnic swing photo op. It was a hit with everyone! Grab a prop or two, swing and say "Kinky Curly!"

Throughout the day, if you weren't visiting the vendor marketplace, you could stop by the CurlFest picnic chat area that featured various experts. These experts covered topics from protective Styles Do's and Don'ts to Work/Life Balancing.

CurlFest was an AMAZING experience! If you missed it this year, make sure you sign up to the Curly Girl Collective mailing list to be informed of their news and events. I had a lot of fun! If you attended, I know you did! CurlFest equals great vendors, activities, music and especially GREAT PEOPLE!

Thanks for reading! Make sure you're there next year!

Xoxo,
